Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care Services, you will
be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients
including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not
predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team,
you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses
of Ontario, the Philosophy and Values of Nursing Services
and the policies of the Health Sciences Centre.
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College
of Nurse of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS, also ACLS, TNCC and/or PALS
preferred
- Recent Arrhythmia Interpretation Course (within 1 year)
- Two years experience in Critical Care Nursing
- Certification, or recent continuing education in Critical
Care Nursing is preferred
In addition, applicants must have skill and experience
in the following elements of nursing practice:
- Physical Assessment
- Intravenous Therapy and Intravenous Initiation
- Central Venous Line Management
- Aseptic Technique and Body Substance Precautions
- Practicing as a partner on multidisciplinary teams
- Patient and family teaching
- Critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution
In addition to the above qualifications, preference
will be given to applicants who possess the skill or have
experience with the following:
- 12 lead ECG interpretation
- Management of the Acute MI patient
- Airway Management
- Management of the Mechanically Ventilated Patient
- Invasive Pressure Monitoring (Arterial Line, Pulmonary Artery
Line)
- Vasopressor/Antiarrhythmic Agents
- Cardiac Arrest Response (Defibrillation, Transcutaneous
Pacing, Life Saving Drugs)
- Post surgical care
- Epidural Line Management
- Trauma Assessment and Care
- Neurological Assessment and Intracranial Pressure Monitoring
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
