in patient care for the people of Northwestern Ontario.

partnered with one of Canada’s best. We know that
in addition to their renowned reputation for quality
care, our capacity for teaching and research will be
enhanced with this partnership as we introduce this
new service”. |

towards a fall implementation of the program within
our existing facility. TBRHSC has been requested by
the Ministry to promptly submit the capital requirements
for a second Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. We
thank the Minister for the recognition of the significant
resources required to provide this service”. |

of Northwestern Ontario.” |

the way for enhanced physician resources. We have been

Lori Marshall, Vice President,
TBRHSC acknowledges the support of the community. “Our
success in being awarded this Program is in large part
due to our friends at Mended Hearts and the Cardiac
Surgical Coalition. We have had tremendous support from
these passionate and committed individuals.” |
Some staff members have already started training in anticipation
of a fall implementation. The next steps include negotiating
agreements with the Air Ambulance system and appropriate surgical
backup centres in Duluth and elsewhere in Ontario. Within
the existing facility, the expected volume for 2007/08 is
250 cases. Once fully operational with two Cardiac Catheterization
Laboratories, an annual volume of 600 cases is anticipated.
