High impact donations
to healthcare now easier than ever with new program.
Through a unique new program, it is easier than ever
for individuals to make a substantial contribution to
healthcare delivery in Northwestern Ontario. Today,
the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation
unveiled program that is specifically designed to help
donors support patient services with minimal financial
impact and maximum convenience. |
 |
“We are excited to
offer Charity Life Insurance,” says Ken Bittle,
Chair of the Board of Directors. “This new program
meets the desires of many individuals to support healthcare
in their community while accommodating financial capabilities
and busy schedules.” Bittle signed on as Northwestern
Ontario’s first Charity Life Program participant
at a media conference earlier today.

The Charity Life Insurance Program, underwritten by AIG Life
Insurance Company of Canada, enables donors to provide legacy
gifts between $15,000 and $50,000 with very reasonable annual
payments over three or five years. For example, an annual
donation of just $1,373 over five years ($6,865 total) results
in a $25,000 gift towards excellence in patient care for the
people of Northwestern Ontario. Better yet, due to a tax credit
of $632, the annual cost of the donation is just $741. Coverage
is guaranteed and requires no medical exam; only a confirmation
of a general health statement is required to issue the plan.
The application process can be completed on-line in a few
minutes’ time. When the life insurance proceeds are
transferred upon death, the Health Sciences Foundation receives
the funds to purchase life-saving medical equipment for all
patients.

Insurance Broker David
Engel developed the Charity Life Program as an easy
and affordable tool to give donors more options when
working with charitable organizations. “Donors
are responding with enthusiasm,” says Engel.
“The combination of convenience, incredible
tax benefits and the sizeable gift to the charity
make this program an appropriate fit for many individuals.”

The Health Sciences Foundation is currently the only charitable
organization in Northwestern Ontario offering this simple,
effective option. Donors to the Charity Life Insurance Program
are recognized according to the policy amount in a special
recognition area of our Health Sciences Centre designated
for Members of the Society of Healthcare Leaders.
“The Health Sciences Centre is a large part of all
our lives,” says Bittle. “Now it’s easier
than ever to make it part of our legacy.” Contributions
to the Health Sciences Foundation have more of an impact because
they help purchase life-saving medical equipment for all residents
of Northwestern Ontario. Due to limited government funding,
donations are needed to purchase the leading-edge equipment
and technology required to provide world-class healthcare.
