On
Wednesday, June 29, 2005, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences
Centre held its Annual Meeting of the Corporation. The Corporate
Membership voted in favour of changing the corporate structure.
The number of Board Members has been reduced from twenty to
fifteen. Chair of the Board, Ron Nelson stated that, “It
was clear to us that we couldn’t remain efficient and
effective with a very large Board. All the research has shown
us that smaller boards are much more efficient and effective,
so we decided that we’d take the modern approach of
a non-representational Board, one that’s arm’s
length and strategically oriented”.
Two, three-year vacancies were filled. Returning to the Board
for a three-year term is Robert Altree. Joining the Board
of Directors for a three-year term is Gil Labine.
Continuing their terms of office on the Board are: Ron Nelson,
Stephen Wright, Wayne Tocheri, Angele Brunelle, Steve Henderson,
Blair Smith, Ingrid Parkes and Janet Gordon. Retiring Board
Members are: Joe Virdiramo, Bob Main, Rick Potter, Doug Smith,
