Thunder
Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and Nipigon District Memorial
Hospital have formed a strategic alliance. The Board of Governors
of NDMH has entered into a contract with TBRHSC to receive
Administrative and Financial Services.
The President and CEO of TBRHSC, Ron Saddington says, “the
agreement uses recognized strengths of the Thunder Bay Regional
Health Sciences Centre. The Board of the Nipigon District
Memorial Hospital will receive timely administrative and financial
decision support ensuring the continuation of excellent management
of its hospital”.
The alliance was considered, in part, because of the departure
of Nipigon Hospital CEO, Bruce Sutton, who recently joined
Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s
Care Group as the new Chief Information Officer.
Mr. Sutton said that “the Board in Nipigon reviewed
its options and decided that in these times of balanced budgets
and fiscal restraint, the strategic alliance was ideal for
Nipigon since the Hospital would receive first-rate administrative
support, yet would remain autonomous”.
Lori Marshall, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services
at TBRHSC, will take on new responsibilities for the Nipigon
District Memorial Hospital.
