We
are celebrating a great achievement. In the middle of Canada, isolated from other metropolitan centers by hundreds of kilometers, we’ve
built a brand new acute care Health Sciences Centre. It’s beautiful. State-of-the-art. Leading edge. Employing technology that
is found few places in the world. TBRHSC is a centre for research and education, soon to host students from Canada’s newest Medical
School.
Our Health Sciences Centre features integrated Cancer Care
with a High Dose Brachytherapy Operating Room, a large inpatient
oncology unit, and a developed supportive regional program.
TBRHSC is a regional trauma centre - our Emergency Department
is one of the busiest in the country. The Health Sciences
Centre also features a large renal program that reaches out
to assist patients in Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances.
Special attention has been paid to the design of the air-handling
system as there are numerous “negative pressure”
rooms to manage issues of communicable disease and infection
control. Articulating arms are featured in all the ICU rooms,
Operating Rooms, the Emergency Department, and elsewhere.
An Electronic Medical Records system, Diagnostic Picture Archival
Computerized system, Telehealth, wireless computer systems.
There is much more. You will want to look around this fascinating
facility.
Enjoy our website. It is here to help you learn more. It
is under constant redevelopment to ensure you will come back.
