Dr. Sunil Gulavita, MD, FRCR, FRCP
Head and Coordinator, Radiation Oncology

 

Dr. Gulavita Dr. Gulavita joined the staff at the former Northwestern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre in 1985. In 1996 he became the Head and Coordinator of the Radiation Therapy Network Program. He holds the rank of Associate Clinical Professor with McMaster University and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. He is an Affiliate Member of the Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program with the Juravinski Cancer Centre (Hamilton) and McMaster University.

 

Dr. Gulavita serves patients throughout Northwestern Ontario. He currently travels to and attends clinics in Atikokan, Fort Frances, and Geraldton. In addition, he serves on many provincial and national committees. He has published numerous scientific papers and has given many academic and public presentations and lectures.

 

Click to listen to this page using ReadPlease Dr. Gulavita has established several Multidisciplinary Urology Clinics with local Thunder Bay Urologists. His primary specialty is genito-urinary cancer, focusing mainly on prostate cancer. He will also be specializing in high dose rate brachytherapy for prostate cancer.

 

 

Dr. Margaret Anthes
Radiation Oncologist

 

Dr. Anthes Dr. Margaret Anthes completed her pre-medical training at the University of Waterloo and graduated from Medicine at the University of Western Ontario in 1991. She completed her specialist training in Radiation Oncology at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto.

 

In 1996, Dr. Anthes joined the cancer centre’s Radiation Oncology team, and has since developed a special interest in gynaecologic, breast, and head and neck cancers.

 

She is also experienced in high dose rate brachytherapy treatments, provided in the dedicated OR brachytherapy suite. She travels frequently to the region, and has given many local and regional presentations.

 

 

Dr. Richie Sinha
Radiation Oncologist

 

Dr. Sinha Dr. Sinha joined the cancer program at TBRHSC in July 2006. He studied Biochemistry at the University of Calgary, and completed his medical degree at the University of Alberta. He is Royal College certified in Radiation Oncology, with an additional certification from the American Board of Radiology.

 

Dr. Sinha has received numerous awards and scholarships throughout his academics, including CARO Resident Research Award, a Canada Scholarship, and Rutherford Scholarship.

 

Dr. Sinha has an interest in IMRT and Helical Tomotherapy, applying new ways to deliver radiation therapy more accurately. He also has an interest in biological imaging and other imaging techniques to improve radiation treatment planning. He is a member in good standing at the American College of Radiology, American Society for Therapeutic Radiotherapy and Oncology, the Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and the Alberta Medical Association.
