The
Infection Prevention and Control Department is staffed with
5 Infection Control Professionals and has the support of an
Infectious Diseases physician. We work collaboratively with
all staff and our regional partners to provide a seamless
system meeting the need of our patients, staff and the public.
We provide numerous services to the TBRHSC including:
- Providing a safe environment for patients, family and
staff
- Daily review of all inpatients for appropriate insolation
precautions
- Ongoing surveillance of Febrile Respiratory illness (FRI)
- Ongoing surveillance of Antibiotic Resistant Organisms(ARO-
C-difficile, MRSA, VRE, ESBL)
- Monitoring of any potential infectious disease that may
require isolation precautions
- Detecting any clusters of infections which might escalate
to an outbreak situation
- Providing education to all patients, families
- Providing support to all staff throughout the organization
- Providing policy and procedure development according to
best practice guidelines
Policy development meets the best practice guidelines provided
by various organizations including the Provincial Infectious
Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC) and reflect the most current
research and standards.
