Family Visitation

Televisitation

"A sense of connectedness allows us to better adapt to life's many challenges. Loneliness can chip away at our psychological well-being and impact our physical health. But, you can do other things to cope with feelings of loneliness and regain your sense of belonging. Building a support network is another great way to reduce loneliness and the impact of its consequences."

Gerald Corey - Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy (2009)

The negative consequences of isolation from family and community supports are an added burden to a patient coping with illness in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. In-patients, regardless of their location, can have a video visit with their families in their home communities. It is also possible to link multiple communities at the same time. Any nurse can arrange this visit for their patient. Contact the Telemedicine Department at (807) 684-6715.
